Guitar and Bass Lessons

Overview

Our guitar instructors teach rock, blues, metal, country, and classical styles on both electric and acoustic guitars. Beginners work on chords, simple songs, melodies, sight reading, and theory. Each guitar lesson will challenge you with a new technique or music theory and ends with something fun – such as your favorite riff or song. We employ a variety of guitar method books based on student needs and preferences and encourage students to bring smartphones or CDs to their lessons to learn their favorite tunes.

What’s the #1 reason to take guitar lessons at Maughan Studios?

Our guitar instructors are warm and friendly and get to know each student and parent on a personal level. We work with you to craft a lesson plan that fits your individual needs and the student’s favorite type of music. Whether you’re playing in local bands, a seven-year-old taking their first lesson, or a fifty-year-old returning to the guitar after many years, we’ll set goals to achieve your musical aspirations.

Guitar Lessons FAQ

How much do guitar lessons cost per hour?

Currently, Maughan Studios charges $27.50 per half hour and $50 per hour. Lessons at other facilities can range from $25 per half hour to $35 per half hour.

Do guitar lessons really work?

Absolutely, taking lessons from an experienced guitar teacher can greatly improve your playing and prevent bad habits from starting.

What is the best age to start guitar lessons?

Maughan Studios takes students as young as 7 years old for guitar lessons. Younger students seem to learn faster than adults starting out but it really depends from person to person.

How many hours should you practice guitar a day?

Practice guitar for at least 15 minutes and no longer than one hour per day. If you want to practice for longer than 20 minutes, set short breaks to split up your practice sessions for the best results possible. Starting out your fingertips need time to build calluses. Practicing for very long periods of time could cause blisters.
