Julia Gilbertson is a senior at Southern Nazarene University pursuing a degree in Vocal Music Education. She has studied piano for over 13 years and voice for more than 5 years, building a versatile background as both a performer and educator. Her experience spans musical theatre, choral ensembles, opera, jazz, and community events, along with directing music for stage productions.
Julia’s performance highlights include singing with SNU’s University Singers alongside the renowned Brubeck Brothers at the Oklahoma City Civic Center, presenting her Junior Recital in the spring of 2025, and appearing in numerous opera scenes at SNU. She has also been recognized by the National Association of Teachers of Singing, earning top placements in 2022 and 2024 competitions.
In 2025, Julia taught music lessons to students in grades K–12 during a month-long volunteer position in Japan. This international experience broadened her perspective on music education and strengthened her commitment to fostering musical growth in diverse settings. She also serves as a vocalist and pianist on the praise team at her local church, OKC Trinity Church of the Nazarene, where she has been active in many ministries for several years. Julia plans to continue combining her passion for music and education both locally and abroad.
Known for her structured yet encouraging teaching style, Julia creates an environment that inspires focus, creativity, and confidence. She resides in Oklahoma City with her husband and their three cats
